NT Public Housing Transfer to Community Housing

What is happening?

The Northern Territory Government are transferring the management of some public housing to Mission Australia Housing Northern Territory (MAHNT) to continue delivering housing services while providing support to residents within their communities.

When will this happen?

The Public Housing Transfer to Community Housing is already underway, with the properties being transferred to MAHNT on 8 April 2024.

What do I need to do?

To get ready to transfer your tenancy over to MAHNT there are some important forms that you need to fill out and return to us.

  • Community Housing Transition Rent Certificate
  • This form helps Centrelink check if you can receive Rent Assistance and helps them find out how much Rent Assistance can be paid towards your rent.

  • Centrepay Deduction Consent Form
  • This form allows you to pay your rent and any other charges to MAHNT through Centrelink. This means that your rent will come out of your Centrelink pay before you get the rest of your money in your bank account.

  • Centrelink Multiple Consent Form – for Centrepay, Income Confirmation and Electronic Verification of Rent
  • This form allows MAHNT and Centrelink to speak to each other to confirm your details. It also allows MAHNT to let Centrelink know if the amount of rent that you pay now might change.

Go in the draw for your chance to win!

We will be holding a Prize Draw for anyone who returns the completed forms to us by 23 March 2024. The sooner you complete and return your forms, the more chances you have to win one of 4 $100 shopping vouchers or an iPad!

Any questions?

You can find out more information, ask any questions you have about what the transfer means for you and meet our MAHNT staff at a ‘Getting to You Know You’ session coming to you! See details below for sessions in your local area.

Looking forward to meeting you!

We hope that we can make your transfer to MAHNT as smooth as possible.
