Her Excellency General the Honourable Sam Mostyn AC Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia said: “I am delighted to accept Mission Australia’s invitation to serve as Patron. Mission Australia’s goal of ending homelessness and ensuring people and communities in need can thrive is incredibly important. I look forward to supporting their team and having the opportunity to learn more about the incredible impact they are having on the lives of Australians.
“In my swearing-in speech I spoke about the role that care plays in our community. The work of organisations like Mission Australia epitomises that theme and it is especially timely in this, National Homelessness Week, to reflect on the role we can all play.”
Mission Australia’s CEO, Sharon Callister added: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our outgoing Patron, former Governor-General David Hurley, and his wife Mrs Hurley for their unwavering support and dedication to Mission Australia. Their advocacy has been invaluable, and we are immensely grateful for their contributions during the past five years. They have taken an active interest in our work and their visits to our programs and services have left a lasting impact on our staff, volunteers and the people we serve.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported Mission Australia past and present. This recognition from Ms Mostyn is a testament to your commitment, generosity and compassion. To all our supporters, thank you!”
