The Riverina Family Preservation Service supports families with children and young people to identify their strengths and needs, collaboratively working towards creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing home. Family Preservation is a voluntary program which aims to strengthen social connections and networks, and practical support. Through case management and long-term support, families are supported to develop their skills and resilience, allowing their children and young people to thrive.

Who we assist

The Family Preservation Service is for families with children aged 0 - 18 years of age.

Families who engage with Family Preservation will experience:
* Trauma-informed practices
* Wrap-around supports to promote healthy development
* Parenting programs
* Home visiting
* Problem-solving strategies to respond to challenges as they arise
* Increased connections with extended family, culture and community

Eligibility criteria

For families who may be experiencing vulnerabilities such as:
* Mental health
* Trauma
* Drug and alcohol misuse
* Domestic and family violence
* Parenting challenges
* Child behavioural issues

Referral process

Family Preservation can accept referrals from Department of Communities & Justice (DCJ) as well as from community-based organisations and self-referrals.
