Family Preservation Service - Riverina delivers voluntary targeted intervention services to families with at least one child under the age between age 0-17 years who are facing problems that impact on their ability to care for their children or children that are at risk of significant harm. Family Preservation helps to build strong/well-functioning families where children can live safe from abuse and neglect & have improved wellbeing outcomes.

Who we assist

The Family Preservation Service supports families with children who are experiencing difficulty in their ability to properly care for their children.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Family Preservation Service, families must either have one child under 17 years or be expecting a child. They must also be experiencing one of the following: Domestic Violence, Parental Mental Health, Parental Drug and Alcohol, Intellectual or Learning Disability, Lack of Parenting Skills and/or Inadequate Supervision, child at risk of significant harm.

Referral process

90% of referrals come from Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and 10% of referrals come from community based organisations.
