Who we assist
Synergy customers experiencing financial hardship who are deemed eligible for HEES by the central intake and assessment team
Eligibility criteria
HEES will directly address the long-term drivers of high electricity bills that contribute to cost of living pressures by supporting participating households to understand their energy use, increase energy efficient behaviours and strategies, and sustain reduced energy use and bill savings. HEES seeks to identify and address underlying factors that contribute to high household energy bills, reduce financial hardship and cost of living pressures, and deliver better long term energy outcomes for low-income households.
Referral process
1) Identification by the Electricity Retailer
Low-income households experiencing financial hardship as identified by Synergy under their existing Financial Hardship Policies
2) Identification by CSOs/ACCOs delivering HEES services
Low-income households experiencing financial hardship, as determined by the CSO or ACCO engaged in the delivery of the Scheme.
This participant identification channel has a number of benefits including:
Enabling organisations to provide a more nuanced selection of participants, as it is anticipated that many households that the Scheme seeks to assist will have an existing relationship with these entities
