The Housing for Young People Program provides housing for young people aged 18-25 who are leaving, or who have previously left, Out of Home Care. The program helps young people to access appropriate, affordable, safe and secure housing in the private rental market across Greater Darwin, and supports them to develop the skills they need to live independently. Young people accessing the service are required to engage in education or training, community activities, and/or employment while they are a part of the service.

Who we assist

Young people aged 18-25 who have been in Out of Home Care for at least six months and are leaving, or who have previously left, the care and protection of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Territory Families.

Eligibility criteria

-Demonstrated support in place to live independently and sustain a tenancy
-Be willing to engage with support services while in the program
-Have the capacity to live safely in private rental housing
-Be committed to engage in education/ training/ community activities/ and/or employment.

Referral process

Participants can be referred to the service or self-referral.
