Reconnect Southern Early Intervention Service supports young people aged 12 - 18 who are living, working or studying in the Onakaparinga City Council area and are homeless or at risk of homelessness to stabilise their accommodation, improve family relationships, and re-establish connections with education, work and their community. Reconnect is funded by the Dept. of Social Services (DSS).

The young people that Reconnect works with face a variety of issues including:

Unstable accommodation and housing
Poverty and financial hardship
Domestic violence and family crisis
Alcohol and drug abuse
Parental unemployment
Disengagement from education
Mental and physical health issues
Challenges of being a newly arrived refugee, and a survivor of torture and trauma.

The program ensures young people and their families are provided with access to a wide variety of networks and services to support their needs including:

Education programs and services

Centrelink and employment services

Housing and accommodation services

Life skills development programs

Mental health and health support and services

Parenting support, education programs and services.

Who we assist

We assist young people who are aged 12 - 18 years who are homeless or at risk of homelessness who live, work or study in Onakaparinga City Council area.

Eligibility criteria

To access Reconnect, you must be 12-18 years living, working or studying in Onkaparinga City Council area and be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Referral process

Young people can self-refer or be referred by anyone who supports them such as friends or family, schools, police and youth justice, housing and accommodation services, Centrelink, and other government or not-for-profit organisations by requesting a referral form be emailing [email protected] or calling 0477 764 279.
