The Mission Australia Family Support Service, operating from Hambledon House Community Centre in Edmonton (Cairns) works with families who find themselves in vulnerable circumstances, and provides a range of interventions to prevent crises or problems within families escalating further. The service works to stabilise or maintain family wellbeing and strengthen the capacity of families with children and young people.

Families living on the south side of Cairns requiring family support.

Eligibility criteria

The Family Support service cannot accept referrals from Child Safety Services if there is a current notification and an investigation has not commenced or where it has been determined that a child is in need of ongoing Child Safety intervention. Referrals from Child Safety can be accepted when the family is exiting from a Child Safety intervention (investigation or Intervention with Parental Agreement) and the referral forms part of the exit case plan/strategy.
