Family Preservation works with families to reduce the risk of children and young people entering out-of-home care. The program uses a range of theories and frameworks, including child protection and child development, to work with families and caregivers to promote positive changes and create safe and nurturing environments for children.

Who we assist

The Family Preservation Program supports families with children who are experiencing difficulty in their ability to properly care for their children.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the Family Preservation Service, families must either have 1 child under 17 or be expecting a child. They must also be experiencing one of the following: Domestic Violence, Parental Mental Health, Parental Drug and Alcohol, Intellectual or Learning Disability, Lack of Parenting Skills and/or Inadequate Supervision.

Referral process

Referrals are received from Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) as well as some community referrals.
