Family Preservation aims to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families by ensuring they receive individually tailored, evidence-informed and culturally responsive services. These services support children and young people to thrive and feel safe at home which keeps families together.
Priority Access given in hierarchical order: 1. CYP at ROSH referred by a CSC, 2. Children under 5, 3. Aboriginal families, 4. Young parents OOHC/pregnant in OOHC or leaving OOHC, 5. Newly arrived refugee families, 6. Unaccompanied children in Specialist Housing Services, 7. Existing clients from the DCJ pathway transferring to a new area.

Who we assist

Families with children under 18 years of age living at home who are at risk of entering the child protection system or on the way out of the child protection system.

Eligibility criteria

1. Age: The family must have one of the following: at least one child under 18 years of age living at home OR a family expecting a baby.
2. Worries: domestic and family violence, alcohol and other drug misuse, mental health concerns, significant learning difficulty or disability, inadequate parenting skills or supervision, limited family, social or community supports, limited school attendance or a health condition requiring ongoing treatment.

Referral process

DCJ, Community referrals or self-referrals via specific electronic form.
