Albert* is a single father living in Far West NSW. He is so grateful for the care and kindness he has received over the past 10 years.

“When we started with Mission Australia’s Brighter Futures, my youngest child was 18 months and she is now 10 years old.

Moving into my new house, I didn’t have much money to spare. I had no furniture - just a blanket on the floor.

The Mission Australia team provided me with some much-needed furniture. They also helped me learn to cook, sort out my finances, and were a great overall support.”

During the pandemic, we have been ringing to check in with Albert.

“They’re teaching me how to look after my family’s health during this time. They even delivered a package to me with information and activities for the kids to help them keep busy while they have been inside a lot more.”

Albert is excited to continue learning new skills to create a beautiful home for his family.

"As things with the pandemic ease, I’m looking forward to learning how to sew with the team to make some curtains for our place.”

Albert feels equipped for the future, knowing he has an extended family looking out for him.

Without Mission Australia’s Brighter Futures team, I would not be where I am now. They do a great job and I see them as part of the family.

I tell other people going through the same situation to get in contact with Mission Australia because they can help you. They mean it when they say they care.”

Funded by the Department of Communities and Justice (NSW), Brighter Futures programs help build strong families for children and parents in regions around New South Wales.
