In the lead-up to Christmas Mission Australia has partnered with cookware manufacturer Tefal and footwear company Ozify Australia to support those who are homeless and transitioning out of homelessness.

Tefal will donate either a kettle, iron or toaster to Mission Australia valued at $100 when customers purchase $200 or more worth of Tefal products and register those products online at www.tefal.com.au.

The marketing director from Groupe SEB, which holds Tefal as their primary Australian brand, saw an advertisement from Mission Australia’s independence is precious campaign on a bus during her commute.

Tefal - 1 purchase = 1 donation

When the idea of a partnership with Mission Australia came up, she quickly agreed to the idea – partially because of the visibility of the campaign.

“Tefal is committed to fight for improvement and meaningful progress through our common values of sustainable development, equal opportunities, well-balanced nutrition for everyone and responsible consuming,” said Groupe SEB Marketing Director Marine Pestel. “This underpins our drive to innovate and to make life easier.”

After further looking into Mission Australia’s work, Tefal found a common thread between their company and Mission Australia.

“Through our research we recognised that Mission Australia uses innovation throughout their programs to create positive change within our communities,” Pestel said. “Our shared values of innovation to make life easier made the decision to choose Mission Australia a simple one – the reach and programs that Mission Australia runs throughout Australia allow Tefal to reach more people.”

Groupe SEB has been in existence for 150 years and places their values as their strength. One of their core values is respect for people which includes their corporate social responsibility.

“By partnering with Mission Australia we are able to directly assist people in our community to escape situations that we may have never faced, to educate our staff on the work that Mission Australia does in our communities and to see our products changing lives,” Pestel said.

Mission Australia is grateful for partnerships with brands like Tefal who are able to use their products to help improve the lives of underprivileged people.

“When transitioning out of homelessness, items such as kettles, irons and toasters are essential in making a roof over someone’s head truly feel like a home,” said Specialist Homelessness Services program specialist Beverly Aufai. “We’re thankful for the ways our partnership with Tefal will help bring a sense of dignity to families in their new homes.”

In a similar partnership, Ozify’s ‘Soul to Sole’ program will supply free shoes to people experiencing homelessness. The program will see Ozify donate $5 from the sale of every pair of its posture-improving and wellbeing-boosting thongs to support our Missionbeat mobile outreach services.

Partnering with Asics Australia, Ozify will also donate a pair of shoes for every sale they make.

Over the next few months more than 200 people who are experiencing homelessness and supported by Mission Australia will receive brand new shoes thanks to the Soul to Sole program.

Mission Australia community services program manager Shane Sturgiss said the initiative was an exciting and innovative one that would bring comfort and improved wellbeing to many Australians in need.

“Many people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage are forced to be on their feet and move around for hours every day, so good-fitting, supportive and comfortable shoes are vital,” Shane said. “We’re thrilled to begin this partnership with Ozify and look forward to distributing new shoes to vulnerable Australian children, young people and adults.”

Ozify Australia’s founders Michael Kinchington and Mark Ninio admit to being inspired by American company TOMS when dreaming up the Soul to Sole program. TOMS has given more than 75 million new pairs of shoes to children in need through their similar ‘One for One’ program.

“This is just the start of an exciting adventure. We will impact homelessness in Australia in a small way to begin, but a meaningful way,” Kinchington said.

Please consider these brands in your Christmas shopping and in turn help more Australians in need on their journey towards independence.
