An unlikely friendship: Inside the Ageless Play program
When you bring together the curiosity of little ones with the wisdom of older adults, you get a heartwarming combination.
At first glance, it might seem like they have little in common, but in the space between their worlds, something beautiful begins to grow.
Behind the scenes: Ageless Play
‘Ageless Play' is a social program run out of Kingswood, NSW that brings together children under five years and older adults. Affectionately known as 'younger friends and older friends,' the program includes stories, songs and laughter.
At its heart, Ageless Play aims to support adults to live at home longer by improving their social, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Young children bring curiosity and energy. The older adults offer wisdom and patience. Between them is a friendship that defies age.
They make me feel young again.” Nancy, 84
For our older friends, Ageless Play is a chance to feel needed, seen, and a sense of purpose. For the little ones, it’s a lesson in empathy, respect, and the beauty of listening to older people in our communities.
It’s a gentle reminder that joy doesn’t have to fade with age, and friendship knows no bounds.
