Mission Australia's Drug and Alcohol Youth Service (DAYS) provide young people and their families’ access to a comprehensive range of free and confidential alcohol and other drug services.
Based in East Perth, DAYS clients have access to a range of different treatment services.
These programs include:
- Comprehensive assessment
- Case management
- Individual counselling
- Medical assessment and review
- Clinical Psychology services
- Group programs
- Mentoring and outreach
- Opiate and alcohol pharmacotherapy
- Parent and family counselling
- Alternate therapies (including music, art and reiki)
- Aboriginal mentoring
Youth Withdrawal and Respite Program is a residential program which offers 24 hour supervised care for young people requiring a low medical withdrawal. Young people can stay for up to three weeks.
Residential Rehabilitation aims to provide young people with a friendly, supportive and structured environment to complete a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. Its focus is to provide both physical and emotional safety while they engage in treatment to transition back into the community. This is a three month program and residents are required to pay rent during their stay.
Transitional Program provides support to young people engaging at DAYS residential programs to transition into supported accommodation in the community.
Court Diversion: DAYS runs a number of court diversion programs including the Young Persons Opportunity Program and the Cannabis Intervention Program. DAYS has a Detention Counsellor who works at Banksia Hill detention centre to provide young people with pre-release alcohol and other drug counselling.
DAYS aims to empower young people affected by alcohol and drugs to improve their health and wellbeing.
Who we assist
The Young Person Opportunity Program caters for young people between the ages of 12-18 offenders or those who do not have extensive criminal history who have drug related problems. The YPOP Officer provides between 1 to 3 counselling sessions based on justice requirements.
Eligibility criteria
We assist young people between 12-18 years old with mild offending behaviours and substance use.
Referral process
We accept referrals from the Youth Justice Offices .
