Mission Australia’s Communities of Focus initiative is a place-based approach that; aims to address local disadvantage by tackling problems in new ways, convenes local community to understand disadvantage and build up local leadership and decision making, builds skills, strengths and aspirations that exist within a community to build cohesion, collaboration, and motivation, works across funding and program boundaries to catalyze innovation and create positive change. Mission Australia works as the backbone to coordinate activity, develop a common vision, facilitate strategy, and build community capacity for a period of 10 years so that Maddington leaders are able to continue to sustain collective action independent of Mission Australia.

Who we assist

Maddington is a suburb within the City of Gosnells, and a recognised area of significant disadvantage and, with MA’s strong presence and reputation including as a service provider and facilitator of the Wattle House and NDIS program, we are in a strong position to be the backbone of the Communities of Focus place-based initiative.
