Northern Sydney Youth Homelessness Service works with young people (12-24years) to prevent homelessness via early intervention support. The service provides individualised case management and counselling to those young people identified as on a 'risk pathway'. Support is holisitic and client focused and provided utilising trauma informed practice, ensuring the young people are safe, secure and connected to community and other relevant services. Support is flexible and varied and offered primarily via outreach to reduce barriers for access. The service works throughout the Northern Sydney region which includes- Hornsby, Ryde, Ku-ring-gai, Hunters Hill, Mosman, Pittwater, Lane Cove, Manly, Warringah, Willoughby & North Sydney LGAs.

Who we assist

Northern Sydney Youth Homelessness Service focuses on young people who are 12-24 years of age. Young people under the age of 25 are able to access case management and counselling as a result of managing barriers and challenges that may impact on their ability to develop independance and capacity. Any range of concerns such as family/relationship conflict, alcohol and drug use, mental health concerns, school disengagement/ unemployment are all idendifiers of instabilty and risk and may require additional supports for young people to navigate. Supports for young people are free and are trauma informed and work individually with a young person to create positive change.

Eligibility criteria

Young people 12-24 years of age who are at risk of homelessness or on a risk pathway and are experiencing challenges that impact their ability to develop and thrive. Young people need to be connected with the Northern Sydney region- Hornsby, Ryde, Ku-ring-gai, Hunters Hill, Mosman, Pittwater, Lane Cove, Manly, Warringah, Willoughby and North Sydney Local Government Areas.

Referral process

Referral taken from client, external agency, family, friend, DCJ by phone, email or in person. Client consent required. Referral assessed by Program Manager/team leader and assigned to Case Manager / Counsellor.
