Living with a disability, 32-year-old Sandra* wanted support to lead an independent life.

With ongoing chronic pain, breathing difficulties and fatigue associated with her disability, Sandra was unable to leave home on her own and relied on family members for daily tasks such as shopping or transport to appointments.

The frustration and stress were piling up and Sandra looked for ways to access support.

After a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) met with Sandra to better assess her needs, our team helped Sandra access support from the NDIS.

Our LAC team in South Australia includes over 100 passionate staff who have supported almost 10,000 people across the state.

Delivering services in partnership with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), LAC helps South Australians living with disability to better understand and access the NDIS, and create, implement and review their NDIS plan.

They also work with local people and groups to build inclusive communities so that everyone, regardless of their eligibility for the NDIS, can access a support network.

For people like Sandra, help from our LAC team can make a remarkable difference.

Thankfully, Sandra can now access a growing number of support services to help her enjoy regular activities and maintain social connections. LAC helps Sandra access a number of supports including transportation to medical appointments, in-home support for household tasks and access to social activities.

“The passion and commitment our teams display in supporting individuals to access the support they require is amazing,” says Regional Leader, Georgii Snowball. “Our staff go above and beyond to ensure that we are doing all that we can to connect and support people living with a disability.”
