Showcasing strength through Art

Celebrating Sandra's beautiful artwork.
Thanks to the NDIS and City of Subiaco, we created a space for thirteen artists with disability to display their work in an exhibition titled ‘Perseverance: Strength through Art’.
Former Australian Paralympic swimmer now artist, Sandra Yaxley has four original pieces on display at the exhibition and says art has always been in her blood, "I have always wanted to be an artist, though there wasn’t always the support and facilities. As a teenager with Cerebral Palsy, I couldn’t pursue my interests in art as freely.”
“I am grateful for Mission Australia’s support and the opportunity to partake in this wonderful initiative. It’s fantastic not only to have a platform to raise my profile as an artist, but also to celebrate people with disability,” Sandra shared.
The exhibit has helped artists acknowledge the value of their art and provided them an opportunity to sell their pieces - within the first week, eight pieces were sold.
Thanks to our partners for facilitating the space and chance for budding artists like Sandra to showcase their work and build their confidence.
