The Suicide Prevention Program develops, promotes and delivers suicide prevention activities and builds community awareness and capacity to respond to suicide and other related issues.

The program aims to improve outcomes for people at risk of suicide across Katherine, Mataranka, Binjari, Lajamanu, Barunga, Beswick, Manyallaluk, Minyerri, Kalkarindji, and Jilkminggan.

Who we assist

At risk groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, youth, LGBTQI community and males. We also deliver CALM suicide prevention training to community and service providers

Eligibility criteria

To access SPP the eligibility criteria is as follows;
Over 12 years old
The client is experiencing suicidal thoughts
Have previously made an attempt to take their own life
Postvention and bereavement support for families post a death by suicide
Lives in Katherine, Mataranka, Binjari, Lajamanu, Barunga, Beswick, Manyallaluk, Minyerri, Kalkarindji, and Jilkminggan.

Referral process

Referrals can be made by:
· Family member
· Carer
· General Practitioner
· Psychologist
· Caseworker
· Other Service Provider
· Self-refer
