With the cost of living on the rise, every little saving counts—especially when it comes to your energy bill. Heating and cooling can make up 20–50% of home energy use, but as the temperature continues to rise, don’t let your energy bill rise too. This summer, a few smart changes can keep your home cool and your costs low.

Thanks to our partnership with Great Southern Bank, our residents on the NSW Mid North Coast are saving even more on their energy bills, and now you can too.

Here are five easy ways to save on your energy bill this summer:

  1. Check your appliances: Energy-efficient appliances with high star ratings use less power and save money over time. Also, check if your fridge is sealing properly - leaks can waste a lot of energy!

  2. Switch to LED bulbs: LED lights use up to 85% less energy and last longer, helping you save on both electricity and replacement costs.

  1. Wash clothes in cold water: Using cold water for laundry can save around $60 per year. Plus, with summer’s heat, you can skip the dryer and save an extra $70 by air-drying your clothes.

  2. Unplug unused devices: Standby power accounts for up to 45% of home energy use. Unplug devices when not in use to cut down on unnecessary consumption.

  3. Save on water: Place a bucket in the shower to collect water for your garden, and install a water-efficient showerhead to cut water and energy use by up to 50%.

Small changes can lead to big savings. Try these tips and keep your summer energy bills in check.
