WELCOME

I am grateful for our staff and volunteers across Western Australia (WA), and the ongoing support, prayers and partnerships from our donors and funders. Thank you for your continued support and generosity to Mission Australia over the last year.

Despite the numerous challenges of responding to numerous COVID-19 related lockdowns, we are proud to have implemented robust safety and business continuity plans that have enabled us to continue to deliver our essential services to some of the most vulnerable people in WA.

There are many wonderful achievements to celebrate over the year, but a few of the highlights include:

  • Achieving accreditation and confirming the high quality of our Integrated Primary Mental Health Support Service in the Pilbara region
  • Delivering a COVID-safe Christmas Lunch in the Park event for some of Perth’s most vulnerable people, including those experiencing homelessness on Christmas Day
  • Helping change the lives of people with disability through the delivery of our NDIS Local Area Coordination service in Perth.

I hope you enjoy our first digital Annual Report. As you read the stories and celebrate the milestones, please be encouraged by the fruits of your contribution. We look forward to another year of serving people in need together and striving towards an Australia where all of us have a safe home and can thrive.

Warm regards,

20-25 Strategy

In 2020, we launched Mission Australia’s 20-25 Strategy with a vision for an Australia where all of us have a safe home and can thrive. In the past year, we are proud of our progress in our four strategic areas of focus. From the construction of a new Mission Australia Centre in Coffs Harbour to expanding our Alcohol and Other Drugs Facilities in Cairns and Batemans Bay.

See our progress

Mission Australia stands together with Australians in need, until they can stand for themselves.

Thank you for making our work possible this year.

Ending homelessness

Growing up in difficult family circumstances, Rebecca* left home at 16 years. She connected with our Youth Accommodation and Support Service (YASS) in Perth and thanks to our generous supporters, Rebecca had a safe place where she could complete her studies and learn to live independently.

Driving excellence

Our Impact Measurement helps us understand how our services improve the lives of our clients and the communities we serve. We measure our impact by asking our clients questions about their wellbeing when they start a service and when they exit. Funded by the Western Australian Government, our Integrated Primary Mental Health Service and Mental Health Support Service provides connection and advocacy for people living with mental ill health. Our impact measurement data shows that when individuals left the service, they were more satisfied with their life as a whole than at the start.
