A letter of gratitude
The team at Mission Australia Centre Surry Hills were touched to receive a letter from a person they worked with:
Dear Mission Australia Centre, Surry Hills:
I wanted to write a letter of appreciation and heartfelt gratitude for the time and effort that the people of the MAC have provided in supporting me to continue to work towards becoming the person I strive to be. I entered the MAC in February this year, with the goal to progress in my life with the best possible available support. During the past six months, I have reengaged in university studies and excelled in the second year of my undergraduate degree, I've rectified my financial debts and have made positive progress in my relationship with my nine-year-old daughter, Annie*.
I've benefited from the various programs I've participated in – Compass, Living with Anxiety, Managing Depression, cooking classes, mindfulness and computer support. I've also had the opportunity to work with professionals, attending counselling and medical appointments to address my mental and physical health concerns. All this has been achieved through daily time and encouragement from my case worker, Monique.
I am grateful for every member of this wonderful service as they have all provided positive, kind and helpful support. A sincere thank you to my case manager Anton, Monique for your counselling support and Emma for presenting groups. Also to Rachel for your support in organising appointments and programs and Dr. Carman and Professor Brown for your time and care. I thank all the staff for the support you gave me and the work you do.
The MAC's facilities and resources are the best I've been exposed to and its reputation is a credit to all the staff and volunteers involved who make this place a beacon of hope to people in need. It is an asset to the community of inner-city Sydney. I have nothing but thanks for the opportunity to come here. I've watched some of my peers flourish who I now call friends. They inspire me to utilise what I have learnt at the MAC to make progress and be a productive, positive and confident person in the world.
